Effective 2026-10-27
The short version: you can play Hmmle without an account, a name or an email address. Your progress stays in your browser; the game itself sends nothing to us. There are no cookies and no advertising, and we count visits only with a cookie-free counter from our host.
Who is responsible
The operator named in the imprint. Email: contact@hmmle.com.
Hosting and server logs
Hmmle runs on Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA). When your browser loads a page, it sends technical data such as your IP address, the time, the address requested and your browser type. Cloudflare processes this data to deliver the site and to protect it from attacks. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure, working website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Cloudflare acts as our processor under a data processing agreement and is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
The fonts, pictures and code all come from our own site. Your browser does not contact Google or any other third party while you play.
Counting visits
To know how many people visit, which pages they open, which site sent them and roughly from which country and on what kind of device, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics. It sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser and does not try to recognise you from one visit to the next. A small script sends these anonymous counts to Cloudflare, which keeps them for six months. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in knowing whether the site is used (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). An ad blocker that stops the script does not change the game.
What stays on your device
Your progress (today's riddles, your streak, your Endless runs, your rank and Hmm's outfit) and your sound setting are kept in your browser's local storage, so you can come back to an unfinished day. This storage is strictly necessary to provide the game you asked to play. It never leaves your device, and clearing this site's data in your browser deletes it.
Cookies and advertising
Hmmle sets no cookies and shows no advertising. If that ever changes, we will update this page first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct and delete your data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive it in a portable format (Art. 15 to 21 GDPR). We keep no game data about you: your progress is only in your browser, and you can delete it by clearing this site's data. For anything else, write to us. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version appears here with a new date. Bigger changes also get a note in the game.
